The Egyptian Arabian Breeders Organization of Egypt

NEWS!

 27 October 2003
ECAHO - The European Conference of Arabian Horse Organizations, has authorized THE EGYPTIAN ARABIAN HORSE BREEDERS ASSOCIATION SHOW as the official ECAHO endorsed, EGYPTIAN NATIONAL ARABIAN CHAMPIONSHIP SHOW.

The EGYPTIAN NATIONAL CHAMPIONSHIPS has formerly been sponsored by the EGYPTIAN AGRICULTURAL ORGANIZATION (EAO) and has been held on the grounds of the historic El Zahraa Stud Farm, where such horses as Nazeer, etc. was born and lived.

ECAHO had patiently waited, refraining from taking official action, expecting the EAO to change their rule to comply.  Given a final chance, they refused, knowing that it would end their affiliation.

There has been an on-going disagreement between breeders and the EAO, who refused to allow imported straight Egyptian horses, or their get, to participate.  Under this rule, only horses of the 3rd generation qualified.  This rule included horses that were exported and then returned to Egypt. Once the horse was away, it was no longer "Egyptian" in their eyes.  This is a clear violation of the ECAHO rules, who officially authorizes National Shows.

Eventually the EAO designated a separate show on the following day, called the "International" show, but winners were not eligible to complete as National Champion.

The rule will remain that only horses bred in Egypt could be named Egyptian National Champion, but it does not extend to the second generation or beyond.

It was important for their breeders to infuse new blood, and the results were outstanding. Remember that we are still speaking about Straight Egyptian horses, so it was all the same.

The breeders have fought hard to have these rules changed, but with no results. Finding that they had no other choice but to go another route, they were successful in their fight.

Knowing that they were about to lose their affiliation, the EAO continued with their October show, calling it the EGYPTIAN NATIONAL ARABIAN HORSES SHOW.  Regrettably, this will cause a lot of confusion for the winners of that show.
